Before Laufey shared her singles, EP, 3 studio, 2 live, and deluxe albums, she was a student of music who devoted countless hours absorbing as much music as possible. There are many artists and sounds which the singer credits her style towards. Some of influences were jazz musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, pop singers Norah Jones and Adele, and classical composer Frédéric Chopin. Her genre blending of Pop, Classical, Jazz, Bossa nova, and more come together to give Laufey a unique sound that fans across the world love.

The full extent of Laufey’s covers is too extensive to note in a single passage, but they would lay out the groundwork for her musical style. As mentioned, Laufey’s respect for artists naturally would lead her to cover their songs and share them with her audience. Some of her most noteworthy covers were jazz standards and reworked pop songs. A few of the former she would cover officially and feature on her studio albums.

This 7-song project was Laufey’s first go on a cohesive project. Consisting of 6 original songs and 1 cover, this heart of the project is Laufey’s views on both the highs and lows of falling in love and how it makes you feel. The “low points of love” are felt in songs such as “Magnolia” and “Like the Movies”; where Laufey questions if she is going to find her person or if she is even worthy of love. It is not all negative though, as she comments on the joys of finding someone to love in “Best Friend” and the self-love of being independent in “Street by Street”.

This is Laufey's first full length studio album. It can best be descibed as being full of "helpless romantic" songs and a deep sense of yearning. It talks both about not having anyone to call her own, but also the feeling of having someone. While a majorty of the songs come off as "sad", Laufey shows she still has hope for love. For a debut album, it already shows the maturity and versitility that many artists do not get untill later on. Some of the songs that highlight and define the album as a whole are "Valentine" and the namesake song "Everything I Know About Love".

A shorter project, at only 6 songs, this project has laufey taking songs from her first ep and album, and then performing them with a new twist. While none of the lyrics have changed, they are noticibly sung and perfomred instumently in a diffrent manner. Some may attribute that to the songs being performed live, but astute listeners can tell the difference. While releasing only 2-3 years into Laufey's career, this EP shows how much she has grown in a few short years; as an artist and as a person.

Similar to previous projects, A Night At The Symphony is another retelling of past songs. This time around, Laufey has added 4 new songs. A noteworthy aspect about this album was that Laufey performed it with her home nation's Symphonic Orchestra. A huge milestone for the singer, as she went from being a part of the orchestra herself, to them supporting her in a project that would be shared with millions. Laufey again holds pride for her Icelandic roots, as one of the new songs is an orginal that is sung entirely in Icelandic. Laufey has remarked that being able to share a piece of Iceland with the world was one of he defining moments. Besides that, the songs are sung in a very serious and classical manner; which ties into the Orchestra theme. Laufey gives some of her best vocal performances in this project.

As mentioned before, Laufey's second album, Bewitched, and the songs on it are what many consider to have put Laufey into the mainstream's eye. Her breakout songs "From the Start" and the again namesake song "Bewitched" were quick to catch the public's hearts. Again, Laufey spends a chunk of the project noting her strugles as a hopeless romantic. However, that message does not dominate to message of the album, as Laufey has just as many songs as many songs about discovering who she is outside of the context of another person and defining her own self worth. Songs like "Dreamer" and "California and Me" hammer this point. The dichotomy of external and internal love are what caused this album to earn a Grammy for her efforts.

Laufey doubles up on her message with this deluxe album a year later. This time, returning with 4 new songs. The 4 new songs seem to perfectly align with the two diverging point of views, love songs and interpersonal reflections. They almost seem to alternate. The songs that were added almost seem richer in how they are sung, compared to the standard version. The namesake song "Goddesss" is the highlight song of this project for many. It is extremley vulnerable and personal song that blends both concepts. It mentions her strugles of love, but how that isn't who she is. Noting that she is not a perfect "Goddes" who only exists to seek out love.

Laufey takes her talents to the big screen, in the form of a live album. This recording would capture one of the final shows of her "Bewitched" era tours, and it would be spliced together to be shown in theaters accross the world. Again resharing her older songs, she was able to blend the different eras of her music into a single setlist that captures the "spirt of her music. Compared to her last live album, the songs are sung a very much more upbeat and postive tone, with her even stopping to engage the crowd.

The 2025 album "A Matter of Time" ushers in a new era of Laufey and her music. More then ever, she is unaplogeticly herself. She shows that she is unafriad to call out many of the hypocrises in the dating scene and in society itself, "Mr. Eclectic" and "Snow White". She shows that she is now not afraid to let go of a love she once had and can accept a new start, evident by the songs "Tough Luck" and "Clean Air". However, at her core, Laufey notes herself as a "Lover Girl" who still chases the feeling of love, passion, and belongning, as noted by the aptly named song "Lover girl". She breaks down the differnt stages of love; the begining stages of falling in love with "Clockwork", the crash and burn of "Too Little, Too Late", and even the potenital rekindling of an old fling with "Seems Like Old Times". Overall, this is Laufey's most diverse project. Both in terms of subject matter and sound

Being an avid fan of the holidays and festivness, Laufey has put out numerous holiday related projects. Almost annualy since 2023, Laufey has put out a modern rendition of famous Christmas songs. While remaining familiar, Laufey puts her unique spin on the songs.

The "in lore" explaination is that this bunny, Mei Mei, is the one who composes the music for Laufey for her to sing. In actualty, this is the platform that Laufey releases many of her instrumentals. The idea being people can cover her, as Laufey has covered others, and for students to practice with.
